Deshmann Smart Lock launches Sci Tech Innovation Fund
On the morning of October 15, 2024, the 2024 China Smart Lock Technology Innovation Conference was held in Hangzhou, with the theme "Intelligent Linkage Worldwide, Supplying and Winning a New Future." At the conference, Desmann, in collaboration with Shenyang State-owned Holding Group Co., Ltd., China Daily Hardware Technology Development Center, and the National Professional Standardization Technical Committee, among other authoritative institutions, jointly launched the "China Smart Lock Technology Innovation Fund."
Desmann Smart Lock's Chairman/CEO, Zhu Zhiling, introduced that the fund's primary direction of work is to support product research and development and technological innovation, with a particular focus on cutting-edge technologies and innovative products in the field of smart locks. This is not only an important practice for Desmann to promote the healthy development of the industry but also the expectation of all industry partners to jointly push the industry to new heights.
Desmann's R&D Director, Sang Shengwei, delivered a speech on the topic of "Innovation Drives Development—Smart Lock Technology Innovation and Opportunities and Challenges." In his speech, Sang emphasized that Desmann will use innovative "strengths" to create core competitiveness, adhere to a user-centric approach, improve the omni-channel and diversified product matrix, and promote breakthrough development in the industry.

Desmann has mastered core technology, and industry technology is independently controllable.
After 2000, China's smart lock industry entered an era of independent research and development. Desmann, established in 2009, has been focusing on the high-end smart lock field for many years, adhering to the vision of making every household use smart locks, continuously innovating technology, and bringing consumers a more convenient, safer, and smarter technological experience.
Sang Shengwei introduced that Desmann first launched the "Chinese operation" with a visual LCD large screen intelligent screen fingerprint lock in 2009, opening the prelude to the era of domestic smart locks; in 2016, it launched the first generation of APP-connected smart lock T7 in China, achieving personalized settings and remote control through its own APP "Xiao Di." In 2019, Desmann launched the industry's smart lock R7 with 3D facial recognition function, achieving a walk-through contactless door opening experience that can accurately and quickly recognize under any light source through 3D facial recognition technology.
For many years, Desmann has continued to invest in the R&D link, achieving independent control of high-end technology, mastering core industry technology, and obtaining more than 200 patents including invention patents, utility patents, and appearance patents, as well as more than 20 software copyrights. From leading the industry to launch fully automatic technology, intelligent cat-eye technology, 3D facial technology, palm vein recognition technology, Shotax sentinel cat-eye system, AI iris recognition technology, WeChat audio and video call function, AI voice registration system, four breakthrough technologies, to GPTfinger fingerprint recognition technology, high-torque Longting motor, D-Power intelligent endurance system, as of 2024, Desmann's seven major breakthrough technologies are still exclusively owned by the industry.
In particular, the GPTfinger fingerprint recognition technology pioneered by Desmann in the industry has brought smart locks into the GPT algorithm recognition era, solving the fingerprint recognition difficulties of a few people. It has been officially reviewed by the World Record Certification (WRCA) and confirmed as "the world's excellent fingerprint recognition rate ultra-high smart lock (Desmann GPTfinger fingerprint recognition technology)."
"A set of smart locks is a highly integrated product of more than 20 disciplines and is a technical product that integrates modern technology," Sang Shengwei believes. As a company driven by technological innovation, Desmann continues to focus on areas such as product endurance and AI capability application, implementing more than two breakthrough technologies each year, and promoting growth with a longer-term perspective.
Improve the construction of the industrial ecosystem chain and accelerate the pace of innovative exploration.Sang Shengwei emphasized that Desmann has been continuously focusing on creating an independent and controllable R&D and manufacturing industry chain. It possesses modern production bases such as smart lock laboratories, technology research and development centers, quality testing centers, and assembly line workshops. The company has a professional smart lock manufacturing management team and a team of engineers, with a production capacity and supply chain of over 2 million sets. It is understood that Desmann's testing center is used to study technical difficulties in the field of smart locks, and the center has obtained CNAS national laboratory certification.
At the same time, Desmann established an information security joint laboratory with the Electronic Fifth Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2019, and established a smart lock joint laboratory with the National Lock Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center to jointly promote the unification of smart home industry standards and strengthen the requirements for the development of intelligent identification systems.
Sang Shengwei introduced that Desmann is one of the drafters of the public security electronic anti-theft lock industry standards, and has been the "leader" of the smart lock industry standards jointly promoted by the State Administration for Market Regulation and other eight ministries for two consecutive years. The company has participated in the drafting and formulation of national standards such as "General Conditions for Lock Safety Technology," "General Technical Conditions for Anti-theft Security Doors," and "Electronic Anti-theft Locks."
In September this year, Desmann officially signed a contract with the United States Phoenix City Joint Laboratory to complete the layout of "four global joint laboratories and five extreme environment test stations." This global R&D network allows Desmann to test the reliability of smart locks in different extreme environmental conditions, thereby providing consumers with an additional layer of safety protection.
To fully meet user needs and diversify the product matrix layout, Desmann has been continuously optimizing and upgrading its product line for a long time to meet the diversified and multi-scenario usage needs of different consumers. It has created four major product series, including Xuanwu, Qilin, Dasheng, and Xiaodi, to radiate a broader consumer group and continuously expand market share.
The high-end Xuanwu series has the star product Xuanwu·Forbidden City K80, which is the industry's first smart lock product co-branded with the Forbidden City IP. It integrates technology with classics, equipped with 23 precision gears and 11 luxurious red sapphires. At the same time, it is equipped with Desmann Shotax sentinel cat eye system and 3D facial recognition and other high-end technologies, becoming the top-matching product in the industry.
The Qilin series is the flagship series, with the industry's first AI intelligent butler lock Qilin R9. It combines artificial intelligence technology, integrates youthful dynamic emoji expressions, endows the product with vitality, and gives consumers emotional value while enhancing the convenience of smart locks.
The standard Dasheng series has the big hit Q5MPlus, and there is an upgraded version Q5MPro (standard version), equipped with a 4-inch high-definition screen, GPTfinger fingerprint recognition technology, AI intelligent cat eye, and high-torque Longting motor. The Xiaodi series, as a technology series, not only meets the fashion and technology needs of the young consumer group but also has a higher cost-performance ratio.
In Sang Shengwei's view, the Chinese smart lock market still has a lot of room for development compared to developed countries such as Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea. The rapid iteration of smart door lock technology drives significant changes in the market share of lock companies. Data shows that the current penetration rate of smart locks in first and second-tier cities in China is about 21.3%, and the penetration rate in third and fourth-tier cities is about 16.5%. Compared with South Korea's 75% and Japan's 40%, there is still a big gap. In the future, Desmann will adhere to technology innovation as the driving force, work with the upstream and downstream of the industry chain, explore market potential, and jointly promote the healthy development of the industry.
